here is the story:
My washing maching had a problem of not finishing its cylce, it was sticking on wash and not proceeding to rinse and spin. It is under extended warranty and is just over a year old.
I reported it out and an engineer came on 4th Jan 08 to fix it. During this he proceeded to break it more and I now need a new drum and element.
As he didnt have the parts on him he ordered the parts and said he would return a week later to fix it. (think he was too busy chatting with his friends on his mobile)
I waited in on the relevant day for him to come but he did not show.
I called the company the following day only to be told no-one had actually booked out the engineer.
It was rebooked for today - until I get a call at 0930 this morning from the engineer telling me that noone has ordered the parts and that he will come next week instead to fix it.
I have been waiting now for 3 weeks for my washing machine to be fixed by the company and now have to wait a further week. I work full time so getting time off is not easy - i managed to rearrange my hours for today but cannot for next week, it looks like i will have to rearrange again for 10 days time.
I have called the company to complain but they say they cannot get anyone here sooner
What can i do as it has been 3 weeks already and by the time it (hopefully) will be fixed will be a month.
I need my washing machine - luckly my mum is washing all the clothes at the moment but how much longer can i use her hospitality. I feel like i want some sort of compensation or something as its not my fault there has been so many !!!! ups yet im the one wihtout the washing machine and the one having to arrange my time around them.
Any ideas??

Hello glitterycloud
I'll move your thread to 'The (Consumer) Vent' board.

It'd not easy keeping calm is it? But hey, it could be worse you could have 10 kids!! Write to them again (just giving the facts and not running them down etc) and I am sure they will respond accordingly.
I understand exactly what you mean about staying in & waiting for people to call but d'you mind if I just show you the other side of the coin? My DH is self-employed in this line and he regularly goes to houses where he has said he will be there with a definite time slot (which he arranges to suit them beforehand). It might be a 20 mile drive and he's there but the house is empty. He can usually only wait about 15-20 minutes (so he sits in van & does his paperwork) He tries front door, back door, rings house from his mobile, no joy at all. He then puts a note through the door to say he has called. HOURS later I get a call to say "Sorry I was in the shower/popped out for 5 minutes/was down the garden/didn't hear the doorbell."
He's lost his travelling time there & back and his waiting time and guess what they say "can he come back TODAY please?" Yeah sure, he's just sitting around waiting for you to call:p so it doesn't matter about all his other customers who are waiting in does it?0 -
I had to wait two months for these clowns. They didn't turn up first time (after my OH had a day off work to wait for them) then couldn't fit us in for ages. They refused to do any non 9-5 calls, despite having messed up originally.
It's the last time we buy one of their washers. Next time we will pay more and use a company that manages it's own maintenance properly.0 -

You could always try a small LOCAL business. They can usually compete with the big boys and just occasionally beat them on price. You also get more personal service. You get it delivered at a much more convenient time and you can often get a Saturday delivery at no extra charge. You get it unpacked for you, installed and old one removed (cheaply). All the packaging is removed too.(Some charge extra) You also get shown how to use the machine and what's in the handbook. If you need them afterwards you can get straight through to them and NOT have to wait in a queue and listen to music you don't want to hear and press every button until you get a human!
Mind you, it's good for business when people ring & say "please come & look at my machine I had from Comet/Internet shop/Argos ... it's only 6 months old" So we say "well, its under guarantee, they'll do it FREE if you call them" and they say "I have been in a queue for x hours (or they can't come for 2 weeks) and I just want it fixed NOW so I'd rather just pay you.":D0 -
My local independent supplier carries out its own service/repairs too. Not much use unless you live on the Kent/East Sussex border though.
But it's worth looking around. I've also found that the indies who do repairs/service tend to be better all around for quality & service - rather than a "warehouse" selling white goods, IYSWIM.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0
