There are ~loads~ of guides out there, but here's one that looks quite comprehensive:

You can ignore the earlier parts about changing partition sizes. Because one of my OS's is Linux, I used the Grub boot loader, which I'm fairly sure could also be used, but you're probably best just sticking with WIN-based utilities.

There's also a simpler method - if your Bios supports it - and that is to switch the boot order from one disk to the other, but TBH it's a bit of a pain to have to do it via the BIOS.

Just seen details of the MS Easy Transfer Companion, which should help with the original query - it's a tool to transfer apps to a new PC:

Note: it's currently only a Beta release, and you do have to pass WGA to download it.

useful but i dont qualify my xp system would not pass the test. Thanks for this though
