I have a list of things to do:

    * I need to find letting agencies in and around my area
    * decide to let part-furnished or empty?
    * Prepare the house (redecorating in progress)
    * sort out the red tape/taxation (I'm beginning to understand a few more things here)
  • Unless your furniture is up to the standard for fire regulations, it is much better to let unfurnished.

If there is gas to the property, by law you must have a valid gas safety certificate issued by a CORGI registered person (renewable annually). However, you lettings agent should be able to organise this for you.

Just a few tips I've remembered!

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
