I think you should write and outline the situation and ask for the money. if they don't give it ask for a dead lock letter and complain to the obmunsman service.
  • Im sorry im very new to this , Can you tell me more --- "dead lock letter and complain to the obmunsman service."

I dont really know what that is :(

There's a financial ombudsman for situations like this. A letter of deadlock means they and you cannot come to an agreement on the situation. See www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/

Do you have to be claiming benefits in order to make a claim on the insurance? Do you not simply need to be registered as unemployed?

Even though you have not paid enough NI to claim contribution-based JSA (and presumably can't claim income-based JSA), you should be able to register as unemployed. This also builds your NI contribution record for eventual pension purposes.
  • really ???????????? see this info is s hard to find even callingthe job center to ask questions got me no help so thank you i will try and get registerd as unemployed

This is how they make billions of profits every year. They sell you grossly overpriced insurance you probably don't want. And even if you ever to claim on it they find some t+c to avoid paying out. It's brilliant as far as they're concerned and almost pure profit for them.
