Damp Questions

Hi ppl

Wonder if someone can give us some tips.....

We are expecting a baby in July so looking to get some things done with the house in the immediate future. One of the first things is to replace the windows in the house (non double glazed, aluminium frames) with some PVC units. We're also thinking of changing the door at the same time too.

Anyway here's where the damp question's come in.

Around the front door on the wall there are some black marks coming through the wallpaper suggesting damp/mould.

We have a old style porch (ie just a little roof bit) and I think it's knackered as the wood on the underside has buckled completely. My OH thinks over time this has contributed to the damp around the door and also because the previous owner was in a wheelchair so had the radiator by the front door removed.

I guess I don't know what we should do first or really if it is just the porch felt roof, !!!! front door and stuff which is contributing to the damp (it's not so bad on the other side where there's a window). Plus the fact we have no radiator there mean's it's often cold out there. Can anyone provide some suggestions and what may need to be done?

Secondly, we have a similar but not so bad problem in the front bedroom underneath the window. Again the radiator is not hosted there (although we are thinking of having it relocated there anyway) so once we decorate should we just get the wall damp-proofed and with the radiator there should it be ok?

Any advice, comments most welcome

Thanks
