Help - want to book a short break in North West

I want to book a short break somewhere in the North West for 21st - 24th Feb for myself, hubby and baby.
We normally stay at Travelodges but it is my hubbys birthday and would like something a bit nicer.
We are travelling from Isle of Man to Heysham on 21st - so anywhere round Preston, Liverpool, North area.
We have to travel back from Birkenhead so are happy to travel or stay somewhere closer on the Sat.
Anyone got any suggestions????? Not too expensive
