Expedia and airline changing flight times

We booked flights to Canada about a month ago and spent ages comparing prices and times and getting something to suit. Since then, Expedia has sent us about 3 e-mails saying that the airline has changed the flight times. Some changes are insignificant but the latest means getting a later flight. This means spending mroe time at Heathrow () and arriving in Toronto in the evening instead of in the afternoon. We could have chosen that later flight but wanted to arrive earlier.

Does anyone know - is this the trade off for using Expedia to book the flights? We did try to book direct with the airline but they weren't offering the times we wanted on their site (oddly).

Thanks

As it's the airline that are changing the flight times I seriously doubt if booking with Expedia or the airline would have made any difference

I booked a flight October 2007 for a flight to Bangkok in April 2008 with Airmiles. We were contacted in December 07 by email to say that there had been minor changes to the flight times nothing over 1 hour, fine.

2 weeks ago we were contacted again to tell us that there had been a change to the flight schedule. This time the late flight we booked is now a morning flight and the morning return has become a evening return with 8 hour lay over in Doha airport. We accepted the change to the morning flight but not the 8 hour wait in an airport.

Airmiles have rebooked our return for the following evening with enough time to change planes.

This will mean added costs, 1 extra night in the hotel and 2 days extra parking. But it was such a good deal at the time i did not want to loose the flight.

On checking the airlines website it seems the changes reflect their now published schedules. So i am hopeful that there are no more changes.

Airmiles were as helpful as they could be but if the flights change there is nothing they can do about it. I guess it it the same with all booking agents.
