Over paid credit card dept question

A long while ago my partner had a dept collection on a credit card, he paid what was asked of him, but at the time thought it was pretty high.
He has since been contacted and told they owe him money, as he did overpay and by £150, and they have now sent him a cheque for £150.
Would he be owed any interest on this money? Its going back about 3 to 4 yrs ago, when he had to pay them.
