Getting rid of an icon

I connect to the Net through a wireless connection on my laptop, but everytime I start it up I have an icon for a cable Net connection saying "Local Area Connection: A network cable is unplugged". Can I lose that icon somehow? It's not vital just annoying! Thanks in advance.

Click on the icon, Properties and then uncheck the relevant options.

Sorry - should have said icon is on Toolbar, not the Desk Top.

If you mean the icon in the Systray (bottom right), go to Settings, Network Connections and double click on the wired LAN connection. Uncheck the "Warn if limited connectivity" and also the one that causes the icon to show in the Systray.

I do mean the Systray - tried your suggestion and the icon still appears when I re-start.

So... Have you tried disabling it?
  • If you disable the network connection (in network connections) it shouldn't show up
