Black mould problems

Anybody found a way to get rid of that awful black mould from around the shower area?
In the past I have used many different varieties of mould remover, from the professional stuff to "cillit bang", from the cheap stuff to the expensive stuff, but all to no avail.
I have even tried re-grouting with mould resistant grout between the tiles...........but still it returns!!!
Any ideas fellow DIYers?

What ,just househould bleach, used neat or watered down?0

Ordinary household bleach, use it neat if it's a big problem on tiles but do a small area first to check that it doesn't cause any problems. One thing, don't buy the 'thick' bleach, as apparently the thickeners in it make the mould grow back more quickly. Bog-standard value thin bleach is fine.
Dettol mould and mildew spray is the best thing I've found, if you use it regularly.0 -
neat household bleach poured on the mould - rinse off once the mould has gone. I don't know if it damages the seals but its very effective on mould.0

If it is the tiles then as previous people have said use bleach. Its very strong and effective. If its the walls i would use either condensation paint, or damp paint. They both come in white and they are also quite affective.0

It's mainly the grout in between the tiles and the sealant around the base of the shower. The tiles are fine.0 -
Those bleach sprays are good, the Dettox in a bright green bottle usually does the trick0

Hmmmm.........which one Dettol or Dettox???0 -
I used to work for a Water Company and black bits or even a pink tinge is an airborne bacteria which is found around taps and showers etc where there is warmth and water.....the ONLY thing that will kill it is bleach.
It can also be found round the rims of taps - use an old toothbrush and bleach to get rid.

Another vote for Dettox here. Works really well. When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile
