Best American Style Fridge/Freezers?

Interested in getting one of these for my new kitchen.
I get a Siemens staff discount but their model range is larger than average so wont get through my front door

Went into Currys/Comet and was impressed with the offerings from LG/Samsung.
However , the LG's come with single thermostat which means that cold air blows from the freezer to the fridge (I think leading to potential mixing of smells) also Samsungs appear to have a design fault (from what i have seen on this board) and i cannot be dealing with the hassle of resolving fridge related issues.

Any suggestions?

I was thinking the same thing as they seem so cheap these days. We rented a house in Hawaii last May and they had one in there. The ice dispenser is just a luxury I must have.

Anyway, I ordered the LG GRL207TUJA, first from Dixons on Sunday for £499 (less the £20 voucher going about.) They have rung today saying they don't know when they are getting them in and encouraged us to cancel - coincidentally they have upped the price back to £799!

However, I noticed that Comet have dropped their £50 delivery charge since I was in a branch on Sunday so I have re-ordered online from there, also at £499 and cancelled Dixons. With Comet, they let you select an actual delivery date (10th Feb in my case.)

The reason I went for the LG is that it is slightly shorter and narrower than some of the others at 175 x 89cm as space is a bit close in our house.

But also, I subscribed to Which's '£1 for a month trial period' website so I could research these and this actual model was one of their best buys on their recent tests from 20th December. They said:

It’s small inside for both fridge and freezer capacity, but overall the LG GRL207TUJA is a great performer. This is one of the cheapest side-by-side models around to buy, but running costs are on the high side. We calculated approximately £67 a year based on early 2007 electricity prices.

Thanks to intelligent storage and overall design, it's one of the best models on test for convenience. Things in the fridge are easy to get to. You get three adjustable shelves, three crispers for vegetables and salad items, a horizontal bottle rack and good storage in the door too.

Open the freezer, and you’ll find good storage in there as well. Back to the fridge, and you get a good water dispenser and ice maker that can provide cubes or crushed ice. Its capacity is high – in our 24 hour test, it made 1.4 kilos of ice, one of the best we found.

Cooling and freezing speed are really good, but not up to the standards of the best freestanding models. Temperature stability is excellent.

There aren’t any warnings to tell you if the fridge or freezer temperature is too high, but you do get an alarm sound if you leave either the fridge or the freezer door open. There's a digital display, and settings are easy to use. This is a frost-free model, with fast freeze, but no super cool.

Unusually, it also has a humidity controlled compartment for prolonging the life of vegetables, fruit, cheese and meats. It works reasonably well, but don’t expect miracles.

Pros: Very good cooling performance, convenient to use
    Cons: Quite expensive to run
    BE NICE - IT'S FREE!
  • the LG GRL207TUJA has gone up to £799 on Comet and Dixons.

I'll check out the store and see if they still have it for £499.
I guess i am too slow 4 my own good.
