Hi.
We are looking to buy a larger house, ours is not on market yet. Hoping to have done odds and ends needed done by next week. We are however going to view a property at the weekend, abit premature i know but this one is exactly what we are looking for, price, location etc. Will we be able to make an offer or will we have to wait till ours is at least up for sale. What's the rules?? We do have our new mortgage agreed in princple if that would help.
Thanks

You can make an offer, which the vendor may or may not accept, but you can fully expect the vendor to keep the house on the market as you cannot procede with the purchase until your house is sold. Therefore even if your offer is accepted, you may not get the house.0

Exactly.
I know it's very tempting, but putting in an offer before you're even on the market is barely worth doing. The vendor is unlikely to take it at all seriously until you've sold.
You really need to wait until you're under offer yourself before making offers, and in the current market it could be a while before that happens. There's also a strong argument against even looking at new houses until you've sold. You don't want to fall in love with something that you're not in a strong position to buy.0
