Parcel over 2kg to France

Just come back from the post office and was quoted £25.70 for a fragrance gift set for standard overseas mail, no signature.
The parcel weighs just 300g over the 2kg threshold otherwise it would only be £10.88 to send.
I don't have any accounts with couriers, but phoned DHL and got quoted £72.
Any way I can send this for not an extortionate price?
May have to ask buyer if I can dump the wooden presentation box that makes it so heavy.

If no one recommends any cheaper couriers, could you split the item in two and send two parcels?0

Hi, how about using parcel2go? www.parcel2go.com
They have "up to 10Kg" delivery to Europe for £19.99 + VAT and it is trackable. The collect the parcel from your home/work and then deliver it. Have used before with great sucess.
The only downside is they use "volumetric" weight, so make sure you send the item in a well protected, but smallish box.;)
Usual disclaimers apply - I have no connection with Parcel2Go.0 -

I'm sorry to ask MartinMoney, but do you have some kind of personal interest in those websites?
The reason I ask is that they both end up with the same parent company - a company that you have linked to, either directly or indirectly as here, in 6 out of your total 7 posts. The post without a link still recommends the same company."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

The sites in a very very similar format as WPS.
Not cheap either got £21 to France.
Though saying that WPS are cheap for no EU, particularly Australia.0 -
