With reference to your email dated 16 January 2008.

Proposed increase in charges

Details regarding revised charges at the Crossing or the proposed local residents scheme will be released in the forthcoming consultation document which will be issued shortly and will be accessible via the Department for Transport (DfT) website at www.dft.gov.uk

The consultation document currently recommends the removal of night time charges for all vehicles using the Crossing between 10pm and 6am and there will no longer be an extra charge for towing a trailer/caravan.

As part of the revised charges there will also be preferential discounted schemes available, details of which will be accessible via the website at www.dart-tag.co.uk

An implementation date for both the revised charges and the proposed preferential discounted schemes will be announced in due course.

Please find attached a Schedule of the existing and proposed new charges.

I trust that this information is of use.

Kind Regards,
Jackie

This change is taking longer than the MP's & local politicians suggested.
    The "consultation" continues.
It is looking like us punters will have to spend at least 10 GBP per year to get a "Dart Tag" and its associated discounts. Local residents crossings should be reduced to 0.20 GBP per crossing.

It looks like this change is running late and it will be October before the changes are introduced.

No charges for bikes at the Dartford Crossing. Hopefully the consultation won't remove that privilege.

Are trailers mentioned on the "advance warning" signs? I didn't notice anything the last time i went accross so was suprised at reaching the toll booth and being asked for double!
