Advice needed - family holiday abroad

We are a family of three with a child aged 6 wanting a holiday in the sun this year however it will have to be in the school holidays when the prices seem to be extremely expensive and our budget is tight. Any recommendations of family friendly resorts and accommodation? We have previously booked package holidays via the travel agent. Would we be better off booking accommodation, flights etc separately ourselves or would it be easier to stick with the travel agents and if so who has the best deals at the moment ? Any tips or recommendations would be welcome. Thank you

Thank you for your suggestion. I have looked at Duinrell in Holland and it looks great. Only thing that worries me is the weather. I was considering going in June and a quick search on weather sites for the area shows it is likely to rain. What time of year did you travel? Any issues with the weather?
  • I booked a trip to malta with my 6 year old grandson for 2 weeks in august (13th -27th) this year.
Flights - British Airways £191.00 for 2 - the flight times aren't great though and they may have gone up a bit as I booked them a couple of weeks ago
1 bedroom apt with pool in Bugibba £305 for 2 weeks got mainly good reviews on TripAdvisor - ok so no proper beach there - but buses are cheap and so is car hire. So under £500 for 2 weeks in the summer holidays i thought was quite good, I reckon you could probably do it for under £700
I know Easy Jet are doing flights to Thessaloniki in Greece for about £130 in August - friend booked last week for herself and son.
