    Sorry, I don't understand.
It's extremely unlikely (nigh on impossible) you'll be up and running within your 2 week timescale. Do you still want it explaining?

    What about plan B?...

If you have a credit card now, why not take your friends/family shopping for stuff they were going to buy anyway. Put the purchases on your card, and let them pay you cash. Then you can decide, in not such a strict timescale, what to do to best get this 'holiday spending money' onto a 0% card.

There is no interest free card which will let you withdraw cash for free.
If there was I would be using it!
You can get very close though EJ, with the M&S travellers cheque loophole...0% interest for 6/7 months for a 1% fee (£10 per £1,000).

Egg Money will let you withdraw money from ATMs without charge - but only if your card account is in credit.

if its not, them they charge like other credit cards.
Just to clarify there is still no cash withdrawal fee (or charge) for Egg Money Card ATM withdrawals - I have just checked that here. But you are correct that interest will be charged immediately at standard rates on any resulting negative balance. Still, an interest-only charge is 'good' value relative to other cards (eg £250 costs just over £1 per day at 16.9 apr)

...and only 50p a day if you get their typical rate of 7.9% APR.

"We've gone through your application and assessed it using a credit scoring check and a reference from a Credit Reference Agency. Unfortunately on this occasion we aren't able to provide you with an Egg Money account."

So it looks like smelly eggs out. Looks like SBT or bust.

If Egg turn you down it is very unlikely that you will get a SBT card from anyone else.
All you will do is completely ruin your credit history.

You have been given good advice in previous postings.
  • In October I opened up a store card with Brantano merely to get the 10% discount at the time. When I received the card I paid the full balance off (never activated the card!) and asked them to close the account. I got an invoice a couple of days later but ignored it as I assumed it had crossed with my payment. The next month I received another account statement from Creation Finance, who provide the finance, advising that they had not received any payment from me and they'd added a £20 late payment fee! I also received a phone call from their collections department chasing payment. I was advised at this time that although my account stated "payment made" there was no amount logged! I provided my bank account details for them to locate the payment and they said it was probably in their "suspense account" and they'd trace it. I asked them to confirm it in writing and to date received nothing. 3 weeks ago i sent them a letter and copy of my bank statement showing the payment and asking to hear from them within 28 days or i would take further action. I've received a further account today from them which has increased by £40.00!!! After a heated discussion with the collections supervisor i was advised that they could see the payment was received - recited the amount and my bank details and said they now needed to locate it in their system and it could take 4-6 weeks! Was also told that they would amend my credit rating to show their error when the payment was located. I advised I wasn't happy with this and wanted my credit report sorting out and corrected within the next 7 days - was then told that they didn;t think their credit control dept would do this!! I basically want to know what my rights are in respect of possibly taking action against them for the stress they've caused! I'm more concerned about the reflection on my credit rating for their incompetance. HAs anyone had a similar experience or does anyone have any advice?

Well CapitalOne and Halifax provisionally approved my CC applications online. So all i can assume is that Egg are too fussy.

So I would still try and avoid using a credit card for cash withdrawals, but, if you have to, I recommend a Nationwide card or Liverpool Victoria. These do not levy the foreign currency charge (though LV do outside Europe - nb not sure exactly what "Europe"means in this context).

Are you sure Liverpool Victoria still do credit cards? I thought they had sold out to Goldfish who promptly slapped a 3% charge on overseas transactions.

They did mine anyway - I sent it back.

But they don't do SBT cards and you have used 2 credit searches - 3 if you count the Egg one that was refused.
I think you are running out of options.
