This could well have been caused by the previous person wiping their feet and moved the mat. Things like this can hardly be described as "incompetance by ignoring H&S regulations". What do you want a law saying if you have a mat you by law then need to employ a mat monitor?
We don't know as we were not there. I made that point as a general statement about people making claims, not in relation to the OP's actual point.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -

No. She is suing a friend whose path she tripped up on. You might think the friend has agreed to all this and has provided her with her insurance details.
Unfortunately not.
She just sent a solicitor's letter to the friend (without any prior warning!), and, as you cn imagine, it's had an effect on their friendship.0 -

I hope she looses.
Me too.
I can see arguments when someone has a duty of care in the case of councils and companies, but never someone's personal residence.
Thats just ridiculous!!!:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -

This is the kind of thing that pushes up our insurance costs and cost of goods in stores as well as maybe putting a real financial strain on smaller shops.
My advice - let it go, there was no ill intention or real negligance, infact if it goes to court it may go against you if it can be proved that the shop had done all it needed to.
I agree with you.
I hate the fact that people sue, regardless of if you have been a little effected. I hate the fact that people can no longer have "accidents" or make "mistakes", because if they do, they are punished financially.
The poor person who is being sued/dragged through court deserves some consideration.Amo L'Italia0 -

It's just selfishness. People will try and argue negligence etc but if you take your head out of the sand it's just self centeredness0
