NHS Fixed Term Contract - Redundancy Pay

Options
Hi All,

I worked on a NHS Project for over 2 years as a fixed term employee.
I finished about 3 months ago.

No mention was made to redundancy pay, and nothing has been paid to me.

I've done a little research into this and I believe that as a fixed term employee for over two years, I am entitled to the same rights as a full time employee. Including the same rights to redundancy pay.

Does anyone know what I should do about this?

Write to the NHS and ask where my money is?

Also I'd assume they'd pay the minimum legal amount, I think that would be unfair because a full time employee would get a decent payout.

    hi disco,

can you give us a few more details?

were u actually made redundant through a redundancy process or did you fixed term contract and project just to an end like we might of expected?
Did you recieve a letter to say your fixed term had came to an end or was your role made redundant?

How long did you work in this role for? If you were continuously employed for a peroid of over 2 years then you would qualify for statutory redundancy pay, if indeed we establish that you were made redudant.

The figure for stat redudancy would be half a weeks pay for each continuous year of service if ur under 22, a full weeks pay for every year if your 22-40, and 1.5 weeks pay per year if your over 41. The NHS may also have an enhanced redundancy package.

If we conclude that you are entitled to this, a letter to the HR Dept at the project/location you worked at would seem sensible.
