Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker

last week my builder got a quote for me for a small kitchen and it worked out £500 dearer than homebase, although I will have to build the cupboards myself. Otherwise it was for an identical kichen.
As they don't do prices for the public all their prices are for trade, so not discounted for trade.
  • i get a very good discount, to be honest they would not sell anything at there list price,as its to expensive but thinking about it no trade buyer pays list price

Howdens used to own MFI and they have an agreement to continue supplying MFI with some of their kitchens up until, I think, this summer ... but MFI will, increasingly, be sourcing theirs from elsewhere.

Howdens are a manufacturer (they are the biggest seller of kitchens in the uk - by number of kitchens) ... but the doors may well be sourced from abroad.

They publish a price list with astronomical prices, which bear no relationship to the quality of the units, and then give trade customers up to around a 70 - 75% discount. This may well vary beween customers.

If you use Howdens via a builder or a kitchen fitter, the idea is that they will keep some of this discount for themselves - how much is up to them.

If you're using Howdens - haggle - either with them or with your builder/fitter.
I write blogs about kitchens ... and I design kitchens for a living ... I just love kitchens!
