Hey guys
I've asked this before but I'm coming to the end of my snappyfax trial so just before I go ahead and buy it, I wanted to double check there isn't any new free software I could use out there for Vista?
Already installed the intel modem myself though vista wants to be upgraded to ultimate for the integral fax program to be unlocked
Thank you

OK something odd - I have been told that Vista Home Premium actually does include windows fax and scan, contrary to the MS website - but I can't find it anywhere on my system, neither can I find a link to download it from their site

If anyone feels like writing to microsoft asking them to reconsider making the fax and scan program available to home premium users click below, i basically said that I would never upgrade to ultimate costing over £100 just for fax when I could just buy fax software elsewhere for $30, if anyone does feel like doing this then here is the link:

I have just complained, I don't suppose it will make a difference, but it's worth a try.
I found this free fax software

Did you see the review 18th March: "The Vista version does not allow faxing PDF files. Other fax software currently available does have this valuable function."
Also it seems to be free trial not free.
Cheyenne Bitware used to be a free download from some modem manufacturers sites but no more it seems. No telling if this old program that worked with XP is Vista compatible.0 -
I wish more people would complain though why should microsoft listen, they'll point to the 140million licences for vista they sold since the launch and say "well nobody else complained".
Can I check whether anyone has come across any software to print as an image? It comes as part of the office 2007 package but I can't find it as a separte download from microsoft's site. It basically prints anything as a jpg/tif file.0 -

You can use DoPDF (http://www.dopdf.com/ - an excellent free PDF creator) to print to a PDF file, then use Cool PDF Reader (http://www.pdf2exe.com/reader.html) to save the PDF file as Jpeg, BMP etc.
It does work, but it's a bit odd and clumsy. When you use Cool PDF Reader to Save As an image, it will save the page you're looking at, at the current zoom level - so if you are zoomed out you will end up with a low-resolution image.
If you are prepared to spend some money there are simpler ways to do this, but this is the only free way I have come across.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
