Methods of repaying CTC overpayment?

Hi,

Before I spend a fortune on an international call, I thought someone here might know the answer to this one. I've been overpaid some CTC, which I knew about and told them about but they continued to overpay. I have the overpayment sitting in my account and I want to pay it back but don't know how. Does anyone know the answer? I haven't been sent a demand for repayment or similar, just an update on my CTC with the amount they've overpaid

Thanks so much

  • How do you know you are overpaid without a demand for it to be returned?

Give the helpline a call (Helpline number for those overseas 00 44 2890 538 192). Get them to check if there are any.

If you really do have an overpayment then you can forward a cheque to HM Revenue & Customs,
    Accounts Office,
    Victoria Street,
    Shipley,
    Bradford,
    BD98 8AA

Include a covering letter with your full details including National Insurance number, address and contact telephone number. State if possible which year(s) the overpayment is from so that they can clear that year(s).
  • I got one of those ammended tax credit award things. Just read through it again and while it does say that I've been overpaid by a certain amount, it does also say that the amount is still to be confirmed.

I'll give them a ring - didn't want to spend £50 on the phone call but needs must. :o Thanks for your help

If I were you I'd hang on until they contact you as they most certainly if you owe them money.
I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!
  • I agree with Suelees1, as long as you have contact details registered with the TCO they will contact you with an annual declaration after the tax year has ended (call them if you dont have it by June in case it goes missing in the post).
When the information from this is processed they will calculate the exact overpayment, if there is one, and you can take it from there.
