XL airways

Has anyone got any thoughts on XL airways please?

I'm currently looking at booking a holiday with either Greatlatedeals or Travel Republic and at the moment they're only displaying prices for xl airlines (first choice are updating their website).

I know there aren't any inflight meals (probably no bad thing!) on the flights in question (they end in 'V'). What are they like for time-keeping/delays, legroom please etc? If there is food available to by on the plane what's it like and what are the prices like? Anyone know?

  • I have flown with XL and there were fine. Basic, efficient, on time and professional.

Flown with them twice and both times have also been fine.

Flown with them from Luton a number of times, and friends have also used them. No problems at all, friendly cabin crew, would recommend them without hesitation. Only slightly unusual thing is they ask you to phone them at the return airport the day before your flight home to confirm you'll be checking in the next day.

Pretty good on timekeeping when it's under their control, usual well packed plane but I think you can pay supplement for roomier 'exit' seats. Food available, including hot meals, on the plane (never tried it, we always take our own anyway unless it's long haul, and Plus/Club or better). Prices are, like all the budget carriers, cheaper the earlier and more off peak you want to book.
  • Well took the bull by the horns and booked today.......
