HSBC reduce saving rates

It never took HSBC long. When the rates go up they are not so quick to pass that interest on. It normally takes them about 6 weeks.
Message:
Last month the Bank of England reduced the Base Rate by 0.25% to 5.50%. Following this, we have changed the rate of interest you earn on your Online Saver account from 5.75% AER to 5.50% AER, 5.37% gross variable.
The interest rates that apply to your Online Bonus Saver will change as well. The interest you earn changes from 6.00% AER (5.92% gross variable) to 5.75% AER (5.68% gross variable) (including 3% AER bonus interest) in any calendar month you don't make a withdrawal. If you do make a withdrawal, you'll still be earning standard interest of 2.75% AER, 2.72% gross variable.
These new rates are effective from 4 January 2008.
Thank you for saving with HSBC.
