If you get a CIFAS entry on your credit file your stuffed, lenders will not touch you!Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

Hi,
Sorry it's taken this long for a reply. I have followed Lisyloo's link
http://www.equifax.co.uk/capitalone/index.html but all I get is
HTTP 404 Not Found page.
I'm still unable to see one of the 2 free Credit Report after signing up
for a Capital One card?!? Can anyone help?
Thanks :embarasse0 -
You can get a FREE Credit Report by following the link on www.freeidprotection.co.uk to Annual Credit Report, no need to send any card details either.0

Can anyone tell me why ID Fraud is the problem of the person and not of the company who were defrauded?
With all the personal data being lost by the government and companies (just had a letter from my bank!), and all of the letters coming through my door saying just sign here for a new credit card/loan etc., surely if the problem was made the company who give out the money, ID Fraudsters would find it harder to defraud???
Just my two pence :cool:0 -
Hi I am after some advice,
I had my identity stolen in the form of credit card applications, loans etc, this was in Spetember 2007 and I have applications made up to February 2008, they appeared to have stopped and I have reported this to Cifas and the places that the accounts were being opened in and the police, which is now flagged up on my report as Fraud and they assured me that this would not have an effect on me getting a mortgage or a loan etc, however, I have been refused a mortgage due to this and anything I apply for from opening a savings account to applying for a loan is all being declined, how do I get rid of this? I have spoken to Expieran who said that they can wipe this and put me through to the appropriate department, only to be told there, that they couldn't as some of the fraud has been used in my name.
I am at a loss as to what to do.
Please help!!!
Kind Regards

Thank you very much James, I have checked it over however, it doesn't answer my question.
You need to check you credit file first and have an inkless thumbprint pad available. Highly commendable and secure but I already have signed up with Equifax and have a CapitalOne card so that I could get the Credit Report myself.0 -
Barclaycard ID theft insurance.
BC sent new cards with sticker to call them freephone to confirm receipt. I was then treated to a long spiel re ID theft culminating in an invitation to subscribe to their ID theft ins for £69 pa.
Havent I read on MSE that BC includes this for free anyway? That this ins is unnecessary? Surely with doctored terminals all over the place (Independent 22.4.9) its the banks' responsibility as long as I haven't contributed to the fraud?0 -
I applied for the Capital one card last year as suggested by Martin, and kept it in a draw, but recently received a letter from them saying my card is now cancelled as I had not used it in 1 year.
So, if you do apply for the card, make sure you use it occasionally so they don't cancel it.0 -
If you really want to take proactive steps to protect yourself then try this (Click here - For Free ID Prtoection).
Some Quotes:
Equifax boss Neil Munroe said, "This is an excellent idea. It offers people effective protection against fraud".
The Credit Reporting Agency: The advantage of this system is two fold: It Reaches ALL lenders and not just CIFAS Members. It's Cheaper.
TIP: Check your Credit Files for Free, then secure them the best way you can by using the Free ID Protection method.0 -
In the middle of May I noticed two amounts of EURO cash withdrawals from my current account with Alliance and Leicester. I notified the bank immediately and they stopped the card and sent me another, telling me that the fraud department would be in touch. I have telephoned on two more occasions and have still not heard from them regarding these two amounts, which equate to nearly £150. Could you please advise what matters I should take now that it has been nearly 7 weeks since first notifying the bank of this.
Many thanks
