Cheer for that DFC. In the email I had back from the counci they said they would need me to register with them if I decided to go ahead.
Still no reply though from them about working from home - the Powys link is very useful - that's going into my Favourites!!!"Stay Wonky":D

Hi, I am in the process of starting a cake decorating business from home, and my local council have been very helpful with regard to all the rules and regs. I requested a visit from the environmental health officer, and she went through everything with me during the visit.
I was told that I needed a level 2 food hygiene certificate, to be completed at the local college, and that the online cert. would NOT be sufficient. Different councils may have different views on this, but I would advise checking which cert. is recognised before parting with your cash !!
My money saving tip is do your food hygiene certificate online here www.food-certificate.co.uk. This one is certified by ASET so you know its a good one. It's £25 and it took me about 2 1/2 hours then the certificate came through the post 3 days later. Taking this course means that you are complying with the law.
Hope you find that useful.
