Telephone Preference Service - Arggggh!

Since moving into our new house in June of 2004, I immediately registered with this service via the website (as I'd done previously in our old house), and of course waiting the 28 day period required for the thing to 'kick in'.

Unsolicted marketing calls continued and I made the usual complaints via their online complaints procedure. Each time I've mae a complaint, I've received a letter kindly letting me know that I'm not actually registered with the TP Service.

Now, I have confirmation emails (several of them) and I continue to receive these blasted marketing calls, from people I can hardly hear, understand or

Rant over, anyone else had this problem?

Yep. I'm sure I registered about 2 years ago. Last month I made a complaint against Toucan Telecom, and received the same letter you did, saying I am not registered. I thought, possibly, maybe just maybe I had typed my details in wrong, so I registered again. But I am not so sure now.

Like you, I initially thought that I may have entered my details incorrectly, however after registering another 5 or 6 times, I'm not so sure either!

To be fair, when I moved into my current abode, we were getting called about twice an evening between 5 and 6pm with different companies selling things we didn't want. We registered with TPS in Feb and haven't had a cold call since mid march.

    Works for me!

There's no question as to whether it works or not, but about the effectiveness of their online registration process.

Oh, it definitely cuts down the cold calls, no doubt about it. That's another reason I was pretty sure I had registered successfully first time.

What's under suspicion is the ability to make complaints against those cold-callers who ignore TPS. Looks like we are just being brushed off.
