Best broker to sell some shares simply & cheaply

Options
Hi,

I have some shares to sell. <£2K worth spread across 3 companies. I have share certificates for them.

Can anyone recommend a cheap service for doing so? I.e. over the counter in a bank? (I'm sure Natwest used to do that) unless that's prohibitively expensive. I don't mind signing up to a cheap broker otherwise (I did consider something like Halifax).

This is more or less a one-off, normally any shares I hold are within an ISA & I have no aims to change that anytime soon.

Thanks
Fella

    Can I suggest joining Selftrade.

They will charge you £12.50/trade to sell your shares by telephone or online - once you have transferred your shares to them.

In addition, you can be referred to Selftrade - my own details are in post 282.. where it is possible to get upto £80 for joining Selftrade.

This would effectively mean you would make a net profit of £42.50 (£80-£12.50*3) after selling your 3 shareholdings - which you can just move to your bank account..
    .
There are no annual fees or inactivity charges with Selftrade - so it doesn't matter that this will be a one off event.

    Regards
    Sunil
