pioneer dvr 109

hi all

ive just bought a pioneer dvd re write

and am not sure if i should update the firmware it is an oem model and as i have never done anything like this im not sure i should.

any advice would be appreciated

  • I bought the pioneer 109 and updated it to the new firmware. I did it becouse the old firmware wouldant burn on cheap dvds.
    I updated the firmware and now it burns on lots of cheap dvds. It can make your drive less noisey as well.
    Updateing is easy becouse the software dose it for you. Just hope the power dosent go off becouse your drive dies.

    Oem means without any software and its cheaper :-)

    ok ill google for the software i just download and run or do i have to make any other changes.

    how do i know what firmware it is running at the moment??

    If you use Nero then goto "Recorder", then "Choose Recorder" and ensuring the writer is selected (most probably will be) then within the specs at the bottom of the window you have "firmware revision: "

    You can download firmware direct from Pioneer's website here.

    If I remember correctly ensure that there is no disc in the writer at the time of upgrading its firmware.
