Hi
My kids have always worn M&S school trousers...for 10 years. I've never had any complaints about them. They have always been hard wearing and hence good value as they were good quality. I recently bought some on line, they were their cheapest ones (obviously a mistake:rolleyes:). When they arrived the material felt thin. Well, we've only had them 4 weeks and I noticed one of the seams had frayed...it couldn't even been sewen back together as the material just kept fraying:mad:. Rubbish:mad:. I won't be buying these again.

I agree there is a big difference between the internet exclusive cheapy 2 pack and normal M&S quality. They were about half the price so I wasn't too worried. They are thin and wear out with boys rough and tumble play time but still look smart and I found them useful to buy in the summer term when they were cool and didn't need to last too long. M&S normal priced school trousers are in general excellent though.
I guess at M&S as most places you get what you pay for. M&S at sale price is best though. If you can get there before the ebay sellers!:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -
Hi Shop to drop,
I agree that you do get what you pay for. But the material was soooooooooooo cheap that I couldn't even sew it, it just kept fraying. I do expect something better of M&S and I would warn people not to buy them. They really are poor quality and a complete waste of money. Still glad that the instore ones are still as good as I'll be going to get some tomorrow..;)0 -
I have found this years school uniform from M&S to be very poorly made too. I brought my son's school uniform from the Bluewater branch in the summer ready for the new school year in September, by Christmas i have had to return one part for the same reason as setmefree2, which they would not change as they had no more trousers so after a bit of moaning they gave me a refund. Last year i brough Asda cheapy trouser and they have lasted far better. I never thought i would be able to say ASDA could provide better quailty school trousers than M&S.0

Maybe you should take them back if they are coming undone so quickly. My boys have had there moneys worth out of them. They were fine for my little one who is less rough and tumble. My nine year old wore hole in the knees after only a few weeks but they look nice I thought they hung nicely. My only complaint would be the thinness in the fabric. They didn't come apart at the seams at all.
They have got some super ones now from M&S though as well as some cheapy ones from tesco which are fine don't look as smart but more hardwearing than the cheap M&S ones.
My boys grow so fast they don't need to last too long. One son always seems to wear his white socks when they are slightly short too just to embarrass me more I think!:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -
Hi,
My boys usually get years out of M&S trousers and mostly I am "still" able to pass them on. These trousers did'nt come away through a tear they are just really badly made (honestly!). Maybe I should take them back?...Mostly I just want to warn people not to buy them. I think it's worth paying that little bit extra...
