Hand-held vacuum cleaners, which is best ?

Apologies if there is a thread on this somewhre, I searched and couldn't find one. We have just come back from being away for 10 days to find that many (or one, very incontinent) dear little fieldmice have been making free with the warmth of our conservatory (part of sitting room, connected to rest of house, not a greenhouse thing). (There is absolutely no food in there but no sign of mice in kitchen where lots of food available, so they're either dim or lazy or not hungry !). My old handheld cleaner has just packed up and I'm going to get a new one to get rid of all small mouse droppings (don't want them sticking to my sweeping brushes). I really fancy the Dyson one, but it's ££££s more than others and heavy. Has anyone any ideas about a cheaper but sturdy one ? This will be our third now and I think they are all very short-lived - the batteries give up and won't hold a charge. Has anyone any thoughts ? If the Dyson one is more robust and would last longer it might be worth the extra £££s but I am really not sure....

We've got a 12v black & decker - much better than the cheapo 4.8v ones you can get which lack power and give up quickly. I don't think the dyson looks worth the money but don't have any experience of it - probably not worth the extra just to clean up after the mice! Hope you've frightened them back outside now.0

Hi
Just read the threads on the handheld problems you are having. Just thought I would say that my boyfriend purchased a DC16 ROOT 6 for me over the internet and I have had no problems with it at all. I find it a very easy cleaner to use and cost effective too. You also get the 5 year warranty on it direct with Dyson for all parts and replacements so thats an added bonus!!
Priced at £82.97 my boyfriend couldnt argue although he does now argue about when he is going to get to use to it on his car!! :rolleyes:0 -
