sorry to rant.. just had it today.. last few days phone been playing up.. I can hear people ok.. but they could not hear me.. (or heard a lot of static when I spoke).. so.. having worked on phones (years ago), and knowing my handset was old.. went out and got a nice new corded phone..

Still doing it today.. and now getting crossed lines.. (its got to be the exchange, or water on the lines some where)..

BT automatic fault reporting line can find no fault so spent 40 mins on hold to be told, they will do an automaic test.. which.. found no fault (get away)..

Say they will send an engineer out.. £50 call out then £60 per hour..(ok.. i get it.. they want to cover themselves in case my phone in faulty)..

They ask what time on Sat.. I want the engineer to call.. I say first thing.. they say, ok engineer will call any time from 8am to 1PM .... !!!! I say that is first thing.. they say yes!!!!

I say ok, if I wait in for 5 Hours.. and the fault is with the BT line.. I will charge £60 an hour waiting time.. (I'll wave the call out 'cos I am already here).. they go quiet..

Argh!!!!!!!!!!!..

don't you just hate a monopoly.. !!!!

Indeed. You'd have hoped someone who charges a £50 call-out fee ought to be able to say what time they will be there to the minute.
