What Wireless Router?

Hi,

I've recently bought a laptop that has WiFi capability. I'm now looking for a wireless thingy that will let me surf wireless.

I currently have cable broadband with Ntl/Virgin and I have a cable modem that came with that. As you can tell I know nothing about this so I'm looking for advice as to where I can buy the cheapest wifi thing that is SECURE and will work with Virgin broadband.

Thank you very much for your help in advance. Without it would be lost :T

  • Yip, but I meant to post it in this thread first as it's more appropriate but I don't know how to remove it from the other thread.

I am on Virgin and I bought this model from Amazon. It was really cheap compared to Belkin and Linksys and it has been fantastic. Took next to no time to install and no problems since.

That's an access point, personally I would recommend a Netgear WGR614 router that way you will also get a hardware firewall. They only cost £32 at ebuyer.

I wondered why it was more expensive than I had paid. It does have a firewall too.

Ahh, that makes more sense. I must admit I like Netgear as they are well regarded and very popular so it's easy to find help if you should have any problems.
