Sale of Goods Act 1979 (and ammendments) requires that the goods be of reasonable quality. If the goods are not, then you are entitled to reject the goods, within a reasonable time, the contract is cancelled and you are to be refunded.
I could not tell you if there have been any cases which have established what constitutes reasonable durability in the case of a pushchair, nor whether a squeeky wheel constitutes unreasonable quality. In both cases the price of the goods will be considered.

My gut instinct is that it is worth another try with Argos, explaining that you are rejecting the pushchair on the grounds above. Then you have to decide whether or not the amount of money involved warrants a full on fight with them. If I accepted the offer of a voucher, I would want to make sure that it had a long (or no) expiry date on it. At least with Argos there is a good chance that they will have something you need in the future.0
