This is a bit of a contorted tale.
We bought a new fridge-freezer from John Lewis a while back, The JL guys who delivered were meticuloulsy careful about our wooden floor. They said they felt the handles of our new machine were loose and couldn't be tightened because the holes were drilled at the wrong angle, so they arranged for a replacement to be delivered a few days later. Unfortunately, the subcontractors who delivered the replacement weren't nearly so careful and gouged two great ruts across the wooden floor.
We were expecting a huge fight but JL were fair and helpful throughout. They sent a senior floor fitter who declared the floor could not be repaired and would have to be replaced at their cost. It's a big kitchen/ diner and I shudder to think of the cost. They sent samples and we choose a new oak floor which has just been fitted today...but there's a final wrinkle, when the fitters moved the fridge threy found a small patch of water damage in the timber which could only have come from the fridgefreezer. So they called John Lewis who have arranged for a service engineer to come out and check the whole thing over.
I can only so how impressed I've been with JL and their approach...especially when I hear some of the horror stories of poor customer care on these boards. I'll be doing a lot more shopping with JL in future and recommend them to anyone making a major purchase. What price piece of mind? Thank you JL for some real first class customer service!

Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!
