Hi River_Kwai
A fabby website that may help you to furnish your place is
www.freecycle.org
I only found this the other day and it is just wonderful. I am amazed at the things people give away. Bascially the rules of the site are that it must be free. One person's junk is another person's treasure...
Have a look for your local group and keep your eyes peeled. My local group seems to have loads of white goods, sofas, bedframes, vacuum cleaners and so on....
Good luck, and hold your nerve with those EAs!
Cheers:DIf it was easy, everyone would do it!0 -
I have since increased my offer to £175k. I thought my offer would be immediately snapped up but I am wrong. The vendor is taking days to decide. Bear in mind that I am now offering £175 for an asking price of £180k.
Well, I have always said I would walk away and walk away I will this time if the vendor still refuses my final offer.Mark Hughes' blue and white army0 -
Cheers for the update.
Seems to me that the buyer has you wrapped around their finger.
Did you take our advice and start looking for other properties?
Offering more than 95% of asking price is above the average. But then you already know that.
It's up to you. If £175K seems affordable and seems right for you, then it's the right price. If not, then it's not. It really isn't up to the vendor to dictate to you what their house is worth. You're the one who's going to have to cough up.
Do keep us updated.0 -

I did look for other properties. I like a few but they are still a bit expensive at the moment (210-215k at present). My gut feeling is that the house price would be flat and continue downwards and hopefully by early next year (2006) the price would have fallen low enough for me to offer. I am hoping the asking price would fall just below £200k and I would hopefully be able to get them for £190k.
But at the moment, I will try £175k as a last chance for the current house that I like (but don't worry, I haven't fallen in love with the house that I am going to pay the full asking price)Mark Hughes' blue and white army0
