Why bother going to Heathrow and paying megabucks for the Heathrow Express?

Get off at Reading and get the railair coach that leaves from outside the station every 20 minutes. It will be just as quick.
    What a great tip

How easy and reliable is this. How long does it take in comparison and how much is it in comparison.

Here is the site for the Rail Air coach

The journey time is about 40 minutes from Reading to terminals 1,2 and 3. For terminal 4 you use the Heathrow Express between terminals (which is free).

Very easy - just follow the signs at Reading - it leaves from the station forecourt. Off peak it takes 40-45 minutes. Can be slower in rush hours though - and doesn't go to T4 anymore. Depending on the connections it should be a little quicker to T123. Reading is about half an hour short of London.

Costwise there's less in it than I remembered - £14 single, £22 return. HEX is £14.50 single £28 return. Plus the train to Reading should be cheaper than to Paddington.

and if it is an open single, i'm sure they are refundable tickets.... don't hold me to that though :)
  • thanks for all the replies.

Train to Reading is the same as train to London and the bus link seems to be more expensive than Heathrow Express.

Think I'm just going to check the train times the days before and make sure there's no major delays and go with what I've booked,
    cheers
