Cheap Motor Insurance

:)Bought a car for my 18 year old son last week. I insured it through my current insurer (in my name)just to get it covered but thought I would try confused.com to see if I could get it any less as I had heard so much about it on this site.

Their cheapest quote was £1300. Nearly £800 more than I'm paying now.

I drive a Corsa and it is insured for any driver (with the owners permission) including under 25s - premium £38pm. Can anybody beat that! Pretty good don't you think?

I am thinking of changing my car to a Honda Civic and getting quotes to see what the insurance would be.

I tried the AA and they have given a very good quote but through an insurer called Group Armour. Has anyone heard of them - I haven't.

AA said they were well established, previously as Garminster, haven't heard of them either.

    Any info please. ???

Hi there. The company is called Group AMA (but it is pronounced 'armour') - they are usually pretty cheap. Endsleigh can sometimes come up trumps as well.

Just passed my driving test and I am looking for a cheap quote for car insurance. I am 30 and wonder whether it is worth while doing the pass plus course to reduce my car insurance costs? Is this a good idea or a waste of money? - also do you know the best company for cheap car insurance for me?
    Thankyou Noel k

Thanks Jaime. Have insured with the AA for a Honda Civic SE. It came in at £17, £2 more per month than I've been paying for a Micra!

Wish I'd known about "confused" when insuring the Micra, I've obviously been paying over the odds for it.

Thanks Martin - I've been spreading the word about Moneysavingexpert, hope they've all signed up.

  • I think that should be "Groupama".
