can anyone help.

i want to put together a montage of lots of photos for my dads retirement.

Does anyone know of any easy to use free or very cheap software that i could download to do this??

ive downloaded a few, but they are either difficult to use or have watermarks etc on them unless u purchase.

Any ideas anyone??

It depends on what you want to do. Have you looked at Picasa from Google or downloaded a trail version of Adobe Photo Elements (http://www.adobe.com/products/psprelements/?promoid=BONRJ)?
Another alternative is Paint.Net (http://www.getpaint.net/index.html) which is an improved version of Paint but with lots of added functionality.
    Hope this is useful

Nothing can beat Photoshop, but it costs a fortune! Therefore, The GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) - is my recommendation and is totally free: http://www.gimp.org/

Thanks, ive downlaoaded gimp, but cant work out how to do a montage on that, same with another couple and one keeps giving error messages.
I found picturecollagesoftware.com which does exactly what i want it to do. I would have to purchase to get it without watrermark etc, which if no problem, the omnly thing i cant work out is how would i print it as a large photo, there doesnt seem to be the option??? I tried using blockposters but it kept telling me it was the wrong file format, tho i thought i had saved it as JPG!!! dumb blonde tho!!!
Any ideas if large poster prints can be done with this software, i dont want to go buy it and it wont print large sizes.

    thanks

Kally is right, Picasa does photo collages automatically from your selection of pics, and it's free.
