A quickie on boilers!

Hi

To be brief, had a mains water leak which meant that our shower tray and the tiles in our bathroom were ripped out. This is immediately above the boiler as I can see the pipes to it and can see that debris has fallen down into the boiler cupboard below.

Is there anyway that this debris can get into the boiler itself?

A local plumber came and said that the noises were down to limescale and air in the system. After bleeding etc we still have the noises in fact we seem to have different noises every time we turn it on. It is an old boiler - not sure how old as it was already here when we moved in.

    Hi

Room sealed boiler , so dust etc won't get into the combustion chamber. That's the main concern.Clean up the boiler and cupboard as best you can, without taking the casing off, after all the work is done upstairs.

  • Hi there.

Thank you for the reply. Guess the noise must be something else then.

Strange thing is it keeps changing. First it was a hissing noise, then a rattling, now seems to be a slow knocking noise. I suppose it does not help that all the pipes are exposed. I have a big hole in the ceiling downstairs and the bathroom has a big hole where the shower was!

    Thanks for your help.
