When I first tried Google Earth a few weeks ago I was impressed - then I learnt that you could tilt your view so that the mountains look real. You can then 'fly' through the scenery.
Try 'Fort William, UK' in the Search box (without the 'quotes')
Then click and hold 'tilt down' (bottom button to the right of the arrows) until you can see the sky.
Now 'rotate left' until you see Ben Nevis, 'Zoom out' a liitle .... amazing?
When you're bored try 'chamonix mont blanc, france' and fly around Mt Blanc0 -
Have you tried spinning the earth on it's axis too?
Do you realise how many hours I've spent on this thing LOL!"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Couldnt get this to work earlier this week - it kept saying I didnt have the latest DirectX so I downloaded the latest but got the same again. Going to try the Google one tomorrow! My views are irrelevant - censorship is alive & well!0 -

How do I find the postcode thingy? I've had Google Earth for ages, but have just downloaded another version and now have two icons on my desktop, which are different. My small village is very blurred and I have never been able to get a close up of it, so how can I get a picture of my house??? :j

Only jokin.. its going to take a while for Google earth to have decent pics of the lil villages/towns in UK. USA will come first, then our lil townsSimplicity is the ultimate sophistication - Leonardo Da Vinci0 -
Some of the map details are not up to date...I checked one are in Port Talbot (south Wales) which is really funny as there has been a open superstore on the site for at least two years which is shown as being builtWelcome, rogerramjet.

I live in a small village in the UK and can get an excellent aerial view of it on Google Earth, even down to seeing people in the street! ... but I suspect it comes from aircraft photography and not a satellite image. I tried looking up a previous place I'd lived and the image wasn't so clear at all. Guess it's luck of the draw as to where you live"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"
