  • Hi, there and welcome. You will find a lot of help in these forums, so stick with it.

For what it's worth, my card issuer - BoS/HBoS - has ended my two-year agreement with the, even upon the submission of an updated financial statement and started applying late fees and charges from years ago the moment I applied for the data, never mind calculating the charges!! It's as if they anticipated what I was up to. They have made me an offer, but insist that the 'gesture' has to be paid back into the card account, which is just another way of them keeping control.

Banks are really hacked off with all this reclaiming stuff and I do believe that the people who work in these places don't like their power being usurped or their bonuses reduced. They will make life difficult for you, and they will be cruel and rude. Stand up to them as much as you can, and if they every hassle you complain to the Financial Ombudsman about them.

    And remember: it's only money.
  • thanks very much for the info have 4 cards so might just test the water with one and see how i get on :D

They are now taking the icing of the cake.

Lets say you were reclaiming £150.00 and had to take it to court. With all the stress and paper work and payments involved would you consider just staying with you current payment plan, or risk loosing not only the money you worked to reclaim plus any court fees and the payment plan.

I have said before more and more cases of debt will now be transferred to collection agencies, and so will the claim along with all the extra payments.

This is going to be a severe blow to those on any plan.
  • it seems like a nightmare but how annoying is it they have made plenty money out of us and will happily and quickly take it, but don't like giving it back. it's a shame really cos with all the charges i've had i think my debts would halve

  • Hi,
If it is going to half your debts you might be able to strike some sort of deal with the debt agency. But you need to find out a figure first from them and get it in writing.

I'm currently deciding whether to proceed with another claim or leave them wait for the money. The monthly payment will not go down.
  • hi
its so hard to know what to do for the best as the credit card companys tend to leave me alone since i've been on my dmp but unless i win the lottery it's going to take 10 years to pay them off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For me, on this card, I cannot accept their 'gesture' as they've just wiped it out with the re-application of charges. I will hit them with the full amount, plus interest, and then see what they've got to say. I got £2.5K back off the swine last year on bank charges for sticking it out! :-)
  • thats good i'm gonna go for it with one card to see how i get on i dont mind them taking it straight off my balance but could not cope with them adding more intrest on it wouldnt be worth it. have you heard off the ombudsman yet regarding them adding on all that back dated intrest?
