Alternative to Muztsubishi Pajero

Ok i know I have spelt that wrong but the more I changed it the more I couldn't work out the correct spelling.

Anyway, bf has a K reg fuel guzzling car like this. He is spending around £250 per month on fuel alone for it.

I have suggested he trade it in for a different more economical car, but he likes his big boyz toyz.

Firstly, how much do you think its worth selling back to a garage part exchange?

Secondly, he is 5'11" and does a lot of mileage each week. A few months ago he drove a company car to Preston and did around 800 miles in 2 days. He said afterwards, his legs aches from being in a different seating position to the upright Pajero. I guess sitting in his car you are in a more hard backed chair position leg wise, rather than a normal car.

I personally think some of this is reluctance to get a smaller car, but inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt as he does do a lot of miles.

Can anyone suggest a car which is more economical and would give him this leg room and seating position he has become accoustomed too?

I'm at a loss of how to reduce this expense otherwise.

Many thanks for any suggestions

You'll ALWAYS find someone for a cheap 4x4, so K reg should still fetch £1000 ish if it's OK.

P/ex value depends on what you're buying & price range.

If you want 4x4 again & can come up in £$£$£ substantially, have a look at Kia or Hyundai products. Very good value for money & still look the part!

If you want a 'sensible' car Peugeot 406 with 2ltr Hdi engines are smooth, comfortable & economical. He'd probably fit in one easily too.

For cheap cheap, try old shape Mondeo 1.8 diesel. Might be less room in the driving position & you'll not have the most fuel efficient, or powerful engine, but it won't break the bank.
