Hmm - bet I'll be next - really been struggling with those samey songs.
I doubt you're doing anything different to the rest of us - I know I've been rating a lot of 5s today as the song was ok - not too awful to listen to and not gonna be a hit either.

Keep on doing what feels right I guess, what more can you do?

  • I know what you mean about those samey songs, I feel like I have had the same bloke on most tracks singing in one long monotone voice with a bit of guitar strumming in the background - there cant really be that much to say about it except something about nearly throwing myself out of my window just to wake up. hehehe.
  • I've just had my account suspended for not staying within the spirit of scouting.

I mean saying you'd rather eat sand than listen to anymore is hardy offensive! The song was POOOOOOOOOOOO!

the other one they quoted was midly naughty, the song was called "if the doorbell rings (it aint me), all I said was if the doorbell rang i'd shoot the singer through the window to save my ears!

They may have a point there!

I have begged to be klet back in!

  • hahaha - thats funny! Gosh, they like everyone to fall into line dont they?
  • I had the doorbell one i was singing it to my mum :-)
  • I dont think STP want to scare away artists by allowing mean reviews - can understand that but do think they go OTT a little.
  • I am not sure if I will get that email but haven't as yet but the way I review is (apologies for terminology)

    - Vocals (out of 10)
    - Lyrics (out of 10)
    - Instrumental talent (out of 10)
    - Creativity of song (out of 10)
    - Originality of Song (out of 10)

This would then give an overall score of 50 and then convert that into a "out of 10 score"

When it comes to actually writing the commentary, I rarely go over 4 lines when I comment. If its really not my kind of music, I will normally say but try and still give an unbiased review. IE.

I am not usually into this genre of music, however, I felt that this song would/would not appeal to the people who enjoy this type of music. The vocals on the song were poor/average/good/excellent and felt that this song suited their voice.

I don't know if that helps anybody BUT just try and be honest but nice honesty. I have said things like "I hope this would be an album filler rather than showcase song if trying to appeal to the wider audience"

Anyway, Made £5 in last 2 days, looking to make £2 a day minimum providing the scout room keeps open.
    STP Stats 7/2/08 - £7.05 - 164 tracks reviewed - accuracy 92.3% - Average Rating = 5.4 and ***

Dare I speak to soon...... this is my first day scouting on the new room and I've had some really good tracks. I just gave two 9/10's in a row!!

Not good as I was hoping it would be rubbish so that I'd go back to writing parents evening comments as I'm meant to be!!
Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...

Glad someone else is skiving. I'm meant to be doing the ironing and filing a mystery shopping report but have hit an interesting run of tracks.
