I have had the same problem with Wescot. I completed a I&E form, which states I'm worse off than before, but they wrote stating I should now be paying 8 times more! I have no idea how they got to that figure, I'm not well off and have been paying them what I can afford.
Contacted them and they stated I can afford it which I said I couldn't so they told me to go to CAB.
Can anyone advise when you complete an I&E form can you include a reasonable monthly amount for annual expenses such as car tax, MOT, repairs, dentist bills etc? Or do they ignore this and just take into account mortgage/rent, tv licence, council tax etc?
To be honest if I pay the amount they want I will have to stop paying something else, like food or insurances. Feeling very stressed about it!0 -

Yes - include everything that you need to pay for - obviously not luxuries - in order to maintain a reasonable standard of living.
CAB would help you fill in the form, if you ask.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Never had a problem with Westcott. Paid the same amount for six years and they never asked for another penny.0

Thanks. They don't have a specific area for this in their own I&E form, but didn't account for this when I completed it. I asked Wescot to send another form but they wouldn't told me to go to CAB!
I did a complete overhaul of my finances last night and included everything I have to pay out for over the year, only reasonable essentials as mentioned above and I'm really not that well off at all, despite working full time! I don't have holidays, I don't go out, I hardly spend money on clothes or anything! What little I do manage to save goes on birthdays/xmas, haircuts! Feel most depressed now!!0 -

You have been very fortunate, jimbo. In fact even the OP has stated that she, initially, had no problems with Wesccot - until they increased the amount that she should be paying, to an amount that will, obviously, cause problems for the OP.
Debt Collectors should listen to offers of payment and should not try to pressurize 'debtors' into making agreements to pay at rates that they can not afford.
This is not just my personal opinion, but also that of the Office of Fair Trading:

If all dca's, including Wescot, were to adhere to these guidelines, then the world of debt collection would not attract the reputation that a minority of criminally minded thugs, intent solely on profiting out of the misfortune of debtors, have earnt for it.
I am pleased that you, and others, are satisfied with the way that Wescot have dealt with your individual situations, and I hope that they show the same level of understanding towards the OP, and slm1234uk, that they have shown to you.
We, on this forum, rarely see the 'positive' side of the Debt Collection Industry - and I'm sure there must be one - but, perhaps if that same 'industry' were to take steps to get rid of the least desirable practises of some of its members, then this world would be a much better place for all of us.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. Thanks Rog, yes increasing monthly payments to an amount you cannot realistically afford is pressurising, that's certainly how I feel at the moment.
For some reason my computer won't open pdf links, is there another format link you could post this as would be interested to read it.
So if I write to them and state I can only afford X amount it is likely they will have to accept this? Why are they insisting I go to CAB and not listening to what I am saying to them?0 -

I had dealings with Wescot credit  a few years ago and they are bullies. Dont let them scare you into paying more, tell them what you are paying and stick to it.Sound strong and confident if it is over the phone, if they know they are worring you with threats to court etc (which they did with me) they will push and push to get more off you.
Good luck xx;)0 -
Thanks. Think it would be better to put it in writing as I get flustered on the phone when they start over talking me, they are so rude!0

Going back to my I&E form, would budgetting for Xmas and birthday presents be reasonable or is this considered a luxury? Can't get my head round what is and isn't acceptable!0
