Wescot Credit Services

Hello,

I was wondering if someone could help me? I am paying back a student overdraft (long story!) but have been doing so for a while now at a rate of £50 which I was happy with and was manageable but Wescot have now upped it to £132 a month which I have tried to do for a couple of months now but I am finding it harder and harder. Do you think it is worthwhile to write and explain to them as they have been good in the past and hope they can decrease it a little? I have £800 left to pay....

Thank you
Caz

  • Send them a recorded letter, enclosing your statement of affairs (ie incomings and outgoings) and explain that you are not in a position to increase the payments, and your efforts to do so over the last two months have left you financially destitute. Then finish that you will be reverting back to the originally agreed amount to clear the debt.

Keep a copy and proof of postage.

Is it worth trying to raise additional funds to throw against it using ebay etc? (you would need to put it into the bank to let it build up, so you can settle in full at the end).

I [personally think wescott are awful awful people. They bullied me into paying a larger amount than I could actually afford despite me trying to explain our situation. they kept saying I could use my DLA money too which is not supposed to be taken into account.

In the end my husband refused to let me answer the phone to them!!! We sent them a letter and copy of our budget sheet and basically said.. look you can't have what we haven't got and the only reason I agreed to it is because I felt pressured into it on the phone. They accepted our amount after that!

Thank you both for your advice, I have been selling things on eBay and accepting Mystery Shopping Events to try and make extra money but it just isn't working and I have been finding it really hard as I have a 90 minute commute to work everyday which I have to pay £8 per day for!! I will do a budget at lunch time as I was pretty much bullied into paying more too and I also no longer speak to them on the phone, I will only communicate by letter.

    Thanks again

    Good luck.
when we were at our absolute worst debtwise we were getting so many harrassing phonecalls and the phone never stopped ringing from hsbc. It got too much so I got rid of the phone and bought a pay as you go sim card for my mobile. Now we have moved and have a new land line but I would never give the number to anyone other than friends, family and people like the doctors/hospital where i have treatment.

Well, I sent off my letter and budget so they will see they are leaving me with no money......I have no overdraft so what I have is all I have!! Fingers crossed they agree as it would take a lot of pressure off:confused:

    Thank you

I would only send by cheque what you can afford , if its £2.50 thats it. A court would look at your situation, and see you have been making an effort to pay .A court would only ask you to pay what you can afford . Don,t let them bully you . good luck
