Hi all,
Got my electricity bill from Npower yesterday and I was shocked with how much I owe them.
I currently owe £688.05. I've been paying £30 a month for the last 12 months. So, £688.05 + £360 = £1048.05
I also have economy 7 night heating.
For the last 6 months I have used 5364 kWh at night and 2261 kWh during the day.
Does this sound high and can I question the validity of the bill?
Any response much appreciated.

hi jimmyjim_uk
first of all what is your MPAN well the first 2 numbers of it anyway so i can work out your region and also on the bill it should have a tarrif which is selected, i imagine it will be the standard E7 tariff0 -
Whats MPAN?
My tariff is Economy 7 Meter Monthly Direct Debit.0 -
MPAN -is the number of the supply
ok on your bill you should have a string of boxes one 3 on bottom 2 on top and one with a big S in it then your meter serial number in the top now i need the first 2 numbers in the bottom left box should be between 10-230 -
Jimmy, have you been receiving bills from them?
Was the meter reading correct on your first bill, and is the final reading on your latest bill an actual or an estimated reading?
Final point, please check that the meter number you have been billed for, is the same as the number on your meter.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
You are using approx 12 day and 29 night units per day.
I use approx 4 day and 12 night units per day and pay 12*25 per year (£300 ish).
You use approx 2.5 times as much as me, so I'd estimate £800 per year.Happy chappy0 -
Do you have an immersion heater in your hot water tank that you have switched ON permanently?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Utlitiesman - bottom left box of supply number = 14
whatatwit - I have only lived at my current address a year and this is my first bill from Npower. They apparntley sent me a bill in July 07 which I never received.
tomstickland - £800 for a 2 bed flat still sounds a lot. I wouldn't mind if it was a penthouse. Its not even a large flat.0 -
its an actual reading from Npower.
I haven't checked the meter number against the bill, I will do that tonight.
Npower are sending someone out to check the meter.0 -

There is an immersion heater in the hot water tank, it was on the timer. I rechecked it last night.0 -
you live in what Npower class as a in patch are which means npower own the area and will generally be one of the most expensive in that area. i would recommend moving away from npower.
reasons for the prices is due to costs in area genreally meter maintanance and service in that area.
my advice is move provider to possibly edf i think is the cheapest in that region0
