Registry help - tweaking backfired!!! arghh!

Hey everyone - I read about internet speed tweaking on pcpitstop.com - through extensive talk on this forum I realised it doesnt really affect smaller broadband connections - (1mb, 2mb etc)
Well, to optimise the speed I was asked to tweak the registry values in order to get a faster connection. Obviously it doesnt really make much difference on a 2mb connection.
Before the tweaking, my connection was pretty fast the whole day. I did save a system restore point prior to the tweaking and I did revert back to to it post-tweaking.
However, it seems the tweaking has slowed down my connection during peak times which wasn't the case before, during 6pm-11pm my connection speed cuts down dramatically and I don't think the ISP is to blame here - the tweaking in some way has something to with it - I suspect.
Is there a way to get round this?
many thanks

I suspect your tweaking has had nothing to do with the poor speeds you have experienced at peak times tonight. Also going back to your pre tweak restore point has put the registry back to its original config.
See how you get on tonight out of interest who is your ISP?0 -
I'm with Virgin ADSL 8MB and it was going at a snails pace last night virtually un-usable1800-2200 hrs .0

Im with toucan broadband it just hasnt been tonight - ive been experiencing poor speeds in the evenings for the past 3-4 days0

note: this has all happened since tweaking - even though I went back to an earlier system restore point - any ideas?0

If you went back to a previous restore point then it can't be the registry and the timing is simply coincidental. What's your speed like during the day? If it's only slower at night/specific times then that's bound to be an ISP problem. Only way around that is to contact your ISP and complain about the speeds. Start making a record of the speeds you're getting by using various speed tests during different times of the day, e.g. suggestions here http://gadgetshow.five.tv/jsp/speed_test.htm"She is quite the oddball. I'm really wary of these miracle tweaks. Every time I try tweaking connections it makes something worse. My best advise is if it isn't broken .. don't fix it. These tweaks are all a trade off of one thing against another.0

yeh another thign ive noted is that I cant download at fast speeds from upload sites such as megaupload - its always 98kb/sec regardless of the time whereas before Id have speeds way over 150kb - maybe the tweaking has messed up the buffer size in the registry? Is there nothing I can do to get a back to normal registry?0

If you've used system restore then you already have got the original registry. That's how you go back to a "normal registry" by using system restore. That's why it's very unlikely to be a registry problem. You could try using ccleaner to fix any errors in the registry but I doubt it'll have any affect on your symptoms."She is quite the oddball.
