camcorder+lemonade not a good mixture! help

Hi my nice camcorder only a few months old has had about 1" of lemonade from a glass over it:eek:
Thanks kids.

It turns on ok but it won't play tape, infact mangled tape when I tried.

What can/should I do?

Comments

  • put it somewhere warm, dont turn it on, leave it for a few weeks in the warm place
  • Try using a cotton bud to swab any moisture that might still visible, particularly where the tape would be placed.

    Thank you both
should I try a cleaning tape? after i have left it to dry out of course
  • I'm under the impression cleaning tapes are designed to remove dust from the read head, not sure that's necessary in your case.

I forgot, you may want to get some distilled water to use with the cotton buds - it might help remove any stickiness the lemonade may leave behind.

    Try Halfords.
If it were mine, I would try pouring warm distilled water over the mechanism, THEN putting it into the airing cupboard for a week to dry out thoroughly.
Unless you get rid of the sticky/sugary dregs left in the mechanism, it will never work properly. You have to get the thing clean !
  • Agreed, the water in the lemonade won't be the problem, it'll be the sugar. Take the battery out first before you try any washing as shorting out the battery (connecting the two points with water) can be dangerous.
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right

    that's scary:eek:
But it seems several of you think thats its the thing to do, I will stop at halfords on my way home tonight.

Will start with the cotton bud idea, the see how brave I feel after!

And will not put battery back in untill all dry.

    Thanks
