Tesco.com / Harry Potter book

Ordered a free harry potter book with spending £30 on books - and it was not made clear either on their website or in any confirmation that this would delay the order of the £30's worth of books until the end of July! The date given on the order is 30th July.

I phoned up their customer services line and was told 'tough luck Sir - it says the order will be shipped in full only when all items are in stock.'

"I can cancel the free harry poter book if you like." was my only choice from CS.

My question is why make such and offer and not make it clear to their customers that there will be a big delay on the order. Okay I fully realise that the Harry Potter book will not be sent before it is released - but thought they would send the rest of the order - then send the Harry Potter book upon release.

Not a happy bunny....

I tried to order the HP book from Tesco.com as I had a voucher for extra points and being a canny money saver bought a couple of other books as well to qualify for the free post and packing.

However, before I could place my order I had to choose between free delivery, all items will be delayed until the pre order is released, or paying for postage and getting two seperate parcels. I decided to wait and buy the book from Tesco when it is released instead. It was made quite clear when I ordered a week or so ago that if I chose the first option then i wouldn't get any of the books until July 16th.
