Just had a call from Barclays fraud team!

I booked my holiday today all on the net so they phoned to check all my transactions were genuine.
Everything was fine apart from one transaction of £1 from a company called Cyota Inc. Does anyone know what this is? Do I need to worry?
The bank said to keep an eye on my account over the next few days just in case it is a fraudster "testing" my account.
I had booked travel insurance through money supermarket and flights through expedia if there is any link there.

I've just had a google around and Cyota Inc are a security company that deals with payment verification. Perhaps one of the companies you have recently paid has put through £1 to verify the card with their service.
From what I've read you don't have anything to be concerned about, but of course always be dilligent0 -
Hi,
Just googled Cyota, they seem to be some anti-fraud company.
I would suggest you download spybot search and destroy and ad-aware. If you use these in conjunction with an anti-virus program, they help clean out nasties from your computer.Loobysaver wrote: »I booked my holiday today all on the net so they phoned to check all my transactions were genuine.

I wouldn't think for a second this has anything to do with nasties on your machine. If it was me, tomorrow I would ring up any company connected with your holiday booking, and ask them if they have put through this charge (and if they have, what it was for). If none of them know about it, I would then inform Barclays, who would I presume cancel your old card and issue you with a new one.0 -

Brill, thanks for that. Do you know if this means the £1 will not be taken from my bank account then?
I must admit I did give him a hard time as I wanted to make sure he was genuine. I refused to answer any security questions apart from the initial of my partner's name!0 -
The £1 should be reversed in the near future.
I used to work in IT for Abbey (National) insurance and we used the £1 nominal authorisation amount at renewal quotation period to check that the CC was still valid for tacit renewals (the auto ones that people on the insurance board complain about all the time).
We just had to reverse the transaction and apply for the correct amount on renewal day.
We quoted for renewal at renewal day -21 but then changed this to -28 when the regulations changed a few years ago.
We were able to keep the £1 authorised/reversed for this full period, its in the Visa/Mastercard/Maestro usage agreement the bank had.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
